Interesting test (in German) of the autofocus-during-video - TopicsExpress

Interesting test (in German) of the autofocus-during-video capabilities of DSLR and mirrorless cameras on the market today. The T3i with its kit lens does not look good: the lens is noisy and jerky when the camera tries to follow the moving object in live view - which is why never even try to use autofocus. Surprise test result: the T4i, T5i and the SL1 are MUCH better, partly because the in-camera autofocus system is much improved, but to a great extent also because the kit lenses are now STM (stepper motor) lenses that are totally quiet. Good to know for anyone considering a new camera for video work, especially because the Canon SL1 and T4i kits are available for under 500 dollars. The only cameras that were better were the much more expensive Canon 70D and 7D mark II, but the difference is not spectacular. All other cameras, including the GH4, could not compete. Keep in mind: this ONLY concerns autofocus usability in video mode. youtu.be/0clr-oJ4SNw
