Interstate Renovation Project Makes Steady Progress The critical work of maintaining Portlands 225-square-mile water supply system is based from the Portland Water Bureaus Interstate Maintenance Facility, located near the Rose Quarter on N. Interstate Avenue. Currently, the facility is being rehabilitated to bring the aging facilities up to current safety, seismic, and other codes. Project updates: - Phase 1 to construct a 28,000-square-foot Shops, Stores & Warehouse (SS&W) building is complete. The building will provide space for staff offices and public meeting areas, craft workshops, materials and warehouse supplies storage area, and a loading dock. - Bureau staff are moving and organizing supplies and equipment onto new storage racks and shelving in the SS&W building. - Currently in Phase 2, crews are building a 38,000-square-foot Maintenance and Operations building that will provide office space and conference and training facilities. The foundation has been poured, shear walls and steel framing installed, and the roof will be in place before the fall rains. Additional updates and photos @ tinyurl/m9v5eho
