Intimacy with Jesus is a relationship with Jesus.. You can know - TopicsExpress

Intimacy with Jesus is a relationship with Jesus.. You can know (about) Jesus but not know Jesus.. You can know about the wonderful works Jesus has done in the Bible and the works you have seen Him perform in person, but that doesnt mean you know Him.. That just means your a spectator... Relationship/intimacy allows you to know that Person on a whole new level.. You find out things about that Person that you never would have imagined.. The Lord is eternal and is unlimited.. You can flirt with Jesus by attending Church, reading the Bible every once and a while and even feeling His presence by tossing in a little praise.. but that doesnt equate to relationship.. Relationship is what Christ aimed for at the cross.. Not religious activities.. An example is this.. My wife and I.. I can work three jobs to take care of her, cook her dinner, and do all the above for her but if I am not spending time with her, to get to know her more as each day passes then our marriage is in vain.. The purpose of marriage is to become one(Ephesians 5:31) in intimacy.. Not to just sit there and do work to tire out... That will lead to bondage.. But intimacy and doing your duties produces freedom.. Likewise, if you say your a Christian without a relationship with Christ, you are in nothing but bondage.. Religion that looks the part, but denies the power of His intimate love... If you are in a relationship with Christ, a true one then that produces freedom... A lot of the Church is bound up by a spirit of religion(there is a demon named that) that believes works produces relationship when in reality it doesnt.. It produces discouragement.. Relationship through His grace produces freedom.. Mans form of religion says I am doing this for you God! To earn your approval.. Relationship with Christ says ...It is finished...(John 19:30).. Jesus is with you if you are saved.. Relax and just obey.. He loves you -His love is tender, warm, gentile, consuming, inviting, harmless, calming, reassuring, -His love brings restoration, reformation, revival, awakening, miracles -His love WILL NOT frighten, condemn(it will correct you though which will hurt because He is perfect and we are not.. So when perfection hits our imperfection to tear it down, it hurts), His love WILL NOT force but will invite you.. God can be summed up as 1 Corinthians 13(read it)
