Invitation and rules to Great Belt Open!!! YOU ARE ALL WELCOME TO THIS GREAT AND UNIQUE EVENT!!!! The friday 22/8 and saturday 23/8 we are proud to invite you to the Great Belt Open. One of the best place for spearfishing in the world. This is also the first international spearfishing competition in Denmark with great prizes sponsored by our friends from TEAM SCORPENA from Russia. Competitors from Denmark, Russia and Finland are 100 % expected. Hopefully people from Poland, Britain, France, Norway and Sweden are also coming. THE COMPETITION MEETING and INSCRIPTION IS AT DANHOSTEL-SLAGELSE THURSDAY EVENING at 7 pm. The fishing this time of the year is very good in Denmark with plenty of cod, mullets, trouts and several species of flatfish. A 5mm suit and 90 cm gun is a good choice along with a small torch for fishing cods under rocks. This competition is athletic with many free swimming fishes and the athletes need to swim a lot with a safety boye. First day area is under the Great belt bridge with start from shore, strong currents can occur, normally going north. Competition time is five hours both days. Second day is at the island of Sprogø, there is less current and two starting areas that is reached by boat. It is not allowed to enter the island of Sprogø as it is a bird sanctuary, but you are allowed to rest in shallow water. Banquet is held saturday evening at the DANHOSTEL-SLAGELSE, along with price ceremony. The Competition FEE is 45 euro, including GALA banquet on saturday night and transport to the island of Sprogø on saturday. Accommodation and basic food is not included in the inscription and should be ordered seperately, we recommed that if you havent book the accommodation yet you should stay in danhostel-slagelse.dk/ It is important for the social life that we can chat in the evening. It is good to have a rental car to go around and look in the areas. Unfortunetly we can not provide boats for scouting. But maybe we can give some advice were to rent a boat. More information: [email protected] It is not allowed to spearfish in the areas before the competition, but we can recommend the pier at 55*19,903 n 11*7,249E in WGS 84 The beach dive for cod and mullet at 55 18,165N 11*11,349E The wreck dive, for experienced divers, at 55 17,767 ø 11 7,077 Night diving is allowed in Denmark, and is very good for trout. Please only catch what you can eat… As night spearfishing is a hot topic among anglers. Rules: Maximum 7 fish per species (note several types of flatfish) to count. But you may catch more, but only 7 will count. • All participants must carry a visible signal A flag (blue and white). This is danish laws – and not obeying is reason enough for beeing disqualified. See link above. • All participants must carry an analog compass on them or their buoy. • If a spearfisher is delayed he will get 1000 points of penalty for each minute until the + 10 minutes where he is disqualified. • Fish caught below the legal minimum size is reason for disqualification. · Fish caught smaller than competition size (but brought inside the “goal area”) is reason for minus points. Competition size: Flatfish 30cm (except turbot and brill) turbot and brill 35cm all other fish 45cm. Catching eel is reason for disqualification • No electronic devices are allowed, watch is ok, GPS, sonar etc. is not allowed • It is mandatory to have the buoy-line connected to the spearos weightbelt. • It is mandatory to buy a fishing license for the danish seas.
