Iowa Audubon and the Des Moines Audubon Society are hosting a new event this Saturday, called “Fall Into Birds” Family Fall & Winter Birding Festival. The event is geared towards families, backyard bird feeders and anyone interested in Iowa’s fall and winter birds. The event will run from Noon until 4 PM at the Crown Point Community Center, 6300 Pioneer Parkway, Johnston, IA (a suburb just north of Des Moines & I-35/80). Programs on winter bird identification, bird feeding, citizen conservation opportunities and a 1/2 hour video entitled simply “Bird” (narrated by Martin Sheen) will be offered, along with a bird hike for beginning birders and families at adjacent Terra Lake Park.
