Irit Rogoff: Art’s Expansions in the Social 3rd of September 2014, KIASMA, Mannerheiminaukio 2, Helsinki The new master programme in art at Aalto University, ViCCA (Visual Culture and Contemporary Art), opens its first semester with a lecture by acclaimed theoretician, curator and organiser Irit Rogoff. The lecture is part of the CuMMA Discourse Series # 17 ViCCA programme explores new forms of artistic production and professional agency within the broader field of contemporary art and visual culture. Theory and practice are tightly interwoven, and emphasis is put on developing each student’s artistic, curatorial and theoretical thinking. Irit Rogoff writes at the intersections of the critical, the political and contemporary arts practices. Rogoff is Professor of Visual Culture at Goldsmiths, a department she founded in 2002, and where she directs the ‘think tank’ PH.D in Curatorial / Knowledge, teaches periodically on the PH.D. in Research Architecture, among other things. Rogoff is currently visiting Professor for CuMMA. CuMMA Discourse is a series of open lectures and seminars by international guests of the CuMMA Major.
