Ironic...I woke up this morning, thinking of how most Whites fail to understand how important it is for Blacks to identify with themselves in the Main Stream. To be seen and represented EQUALLY as members of society in all walks of life and especially in positions of power and influence, success and integrity. Not handpicked puppets and pawns for leaders and role models, either....We have to actually look for and wait to see ourselves on certain shows and movies, and most of the time we are associated with sports, music, crime related roles, or comedy and buffoonery. It is EXTREMELY important for Black children to see more than White cartoons or just animals, muppets/puppets, and non-Black characters in their early childhood development. And to call for this is NOT racist. It is racist not to show more culturally diverse cartoons and educational early childhood development series on the 500 plus cable channels we pay for and the childrens books we buy and read. The same with comic book super heroes. How long will Blacks accept being under represented and under served? -W. Shabazz
