Is Jesus the Son of God ? Question : What does it mean Jesus is the Son of God ? Answer : Jesus was not the Son of God in the sense that we understand about the father and son . God did not get married and then have a child . Jesus is Gods Son in the sense that He is God become man ( John 1:1 , 14 ) . Jesus is Gods Son in the sense He was conceived by the Holy Spirit . Luke 1:35 says , The angel answered her, The Holy Spirit will descend upon you and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee: therefore the child to be born will be called holy , the Son of God ( Luke 1:35 ) . In biblical times , the phrase is used to describe a human child a human being . Son of man is man . Another example can be seen in : John 17:12 where Judas is depicted as the son of perdition . John 6:71 tells us that Judas the son of Simon . What is meant by the time John 17:12 depicts Judas as the son of perdition ? The word destruction means destruction , futility . Judas is not a literal son of destruction , futility , but these things are characteristics of the life of Judas . Judas is a manifestation of the destruction . Similarly , Jesus is the Son of God . Son of God is God ??? Jesus is God who reveals himself ( John 1:1 , 14 ).
