Is Reincarnation in the Bible? (If you are willing to accept it. Matthew 11:14) Christians don’t believe in reincarnation. They just believe that people are born again with a different body after death. re•in•car•na•tion noun \ˌrē-(ˌ)in-(ˌ)kär-ˈnā-shən\ : the idea or belief that people are born again with a different body after death : someone who has been born again with a different body after death The people of Jesus’ time understood the concept of reincarnation. As a matter of fact Jesus’ followers (except for Peter) thought he was an old prophet that was reincarnated. Luke 9:18-20King James Version (KJV) Jesus asked the Apostles “Whom say the people that I am?” They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again. Was not Jesus Christ reincarnated twice? Once when he was reborn on earth from the seed of the Holy Spirit and once when he was raised from the dead? Mary didn’t recognize Jesus at first when he came back from the dead. John 20:14 ‘And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.’ John the Baptist said he was not Elijah the prophet (reincarnated) in John 1:21 ‘And they asked him, what then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, no. He also said he wasn’t a prophet. John was wrong on both accounts. He didn’t even know he was reincarnated but Jesus did. Jesus said John the Baptist was Elijah the prophet (reincarnated). Matthew 11:14. ‘And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come.’ ‘And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.’ Yes, he was Elijah (Matthew 11:13-14)—Jesus said For all the prophets and the Law prophesied until John. 14And if you care to accept it, he himself is Elijah, who was to come. John the Baptist also was born already with the Holy Spirit. Luke 1:15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb. The NIV says ‘He will be filled with the Holy Spirit even BEFORE he is born.’ And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come. He who has ears, let him hear. (Matthew 11:11-15). The Lord is trying to tell us something here. But I tell you, Elijah has come. (Mark 9:13) The following verse is used to refute the John the Baptist/Elijah reincarnation connection. The Bible tells us that John the Baptist possessed, ... the spirit and power of Elijah. (Luke 1:17) Those who argue this reincarnation connection say that John the Baptist merely came in the spirit and power of Elijah. However, this is a perfect description of reincarnation: the spirit and power. This is reincarnation - the reincarnation of the spirit. The Bible itself states that John the Baptist possessed the spirit that had previously lived in, and as, the man Elijah - not his physical being and memory, but his spirit. Here is another example. And as he was passing by, he saw a man blind from birth. And his disciples asked him, Rabbi, who has sinned, this man or his parents, that he should be born blind?Jesus answered, ’Neither has this man sinned, nor his parents, but the works of God were to be made manifest in him. (John 9:1) The disciples ask the Lord if the man himself could have committed the sin that led to his blindness. Given the fact that the man was born blind, we are confronted with a serious question. When could he have made such transgressions as to make him blind at birth? The only conceivable answer is that he would have had to have sinned BEFORE HE WAS BORN. The question as posed by the disciples explicitly presupposes prenatal existence. It will also be noted that Christ says nothing to dispel or correct the presupposition. Here is undeniable support for a doctrine of human preexistence. Romans 8:29 New International Version For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. King James Bible For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Think about what the Lord is actually saying here... Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5. If this is one scripture is to be taken literally, it is all the evidence we need to know that reincarnation does exist. Many may want to quote this scripture, Hebrews 9:27 - And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment. But if this is referring to the second death and judgment everything I am saying still makes sense. Jesus said in John 11:26 KJV Whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.” This must be concerning the second death as well. These scriptures also strongly suggest reincarnation is a reality, Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom. (Matthew 16:24-28). He chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blemish in his sight and love. (Ephesians 1:4) I tell you the truth, Jesus answered, before Abraham was born, I am! (John 8:58) So who were all these people before they were here? Some were children of God and some were children of the devil… John 8:45 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God. Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. Jesus blamed one generation for all the sins ever committed until Zechariah. How can God possibly be justified for this if that generation had not been reincarnated? This goes way beyond punishing to the third and fourth generation Exodus 20:5. And we know that ‘God is fair and just’ Psalm 25:8. Matthew 23:35-37 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation. So when we ask ‘How can God allow these things to happen?’ War, innocent people murdered the bloodshed of children and so on; Perhaps we have no idea who these people really are, who they are to God and who they used to be. Thank you and God bless you.
