Sen. Pat Roberts of Kansas avoided a Tea Party hit squad (and presumably took up residence in his own home state), while Democrats brace for a dramatic, intra-party fight in the Aloha State. Back on the Mainland, Rand Paul gave new meaning to the phrase, “Run, Rand, run!” while Steve King decided to show some DREAMers his giant ignorance (you folks up front will have to move back a bit). Meanwhile, a judge moved marriage equality closer to the national norm; President Obama got another strong monthly jobs report; and a House Benghazi committee all but removed the issue from the table as a viable political scandal. That could set the table for Hillary Clinton, who may have secured prime Manhattan office space.
