Is SON OF GOD Biblical? BY BEN KAYSER, MANAGING EDITOR - TopicsExpress

Is SON OF GOD Biblical? BY BEN KAYSER, MANAGING EDITOR Son of God I’ve seen this movie, ‘Son of God’ just yesterday March 6, 2014. I’ve also read pros and cons on this movie as you may have read. Bottom line is; ‘it’s a movie’. It isn’t scripture although there is scripture in the movie. There is also a great view of who Jesus (not the actor Diogo Morgado) was and what God did offering Jesus as our sacrificial lamb on the cross at Calvary. Creative license is used throughout the entertainment industry and if you are interested in 100% Bible accuracy you won’t find that in this movie, ‘Son of God’ or most likely any movie. What you will find is a group of people who put their hearts and souls into a depiction of Jesus life and what God the Father did for us through the sacrificial offering of His Son, Jesus the Christ. I believe God has and will use this movie to touch the lives of countless people both saved and unsaved, yes even those people who would never darken the doors of a church. Below is a website and excerpt from an article written by Ben Kayser, Managing Director of Movieguide. No matter if you see the movie on the big screen or wait to see it in DVD format you will be touched by the Creator God and the priceless Gift of His Son, Jesus the Christ. May your Resurrection Discovery Day be blessed and may you find the One true and living God in the person of Jesus the Christ, Gods Son. steve < movieguide.org/news-articles/son-god-biblical.html?utm_source=iContact&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Movieguide%C2%AE%20Newsletter&utm_content= BY BEN KAYSER, MANAGING EDITOR When the SON OF GOD surpassed expectations and earned $25 million on its first weekend, it was once again clear that the Christian community has power over the box office. Not surprisingly, Non-Christian skeptics criticized the movie, but they weren’t alone in some of their criticism. Many Christians, for various reasons, have issues with how the Bible was adapted for screen in SON OF GOD. They rightly compare what is shown in the movie to the Holy Scriptures and point out where the movie has deviated. This is beneficial, for Acts 17:11 calls us to be like the Bereans, searching out the Scriptures to find out what is true. No Christian wants to see the Savior misrepresented on screen. Sadly, however, some Christians are accusing a valid representation of Christ in SON OF GOD, and claiming it represents a false gospel. This isn’t true. Instead of addressing each and every difference between SON OF GOD and the Bible, I’d like to make a few points in defense of SON OF GOD and the many Bible movies that are to come. While the Bible must be held in the highest regard and treated with the utmost respect, we should never treat any rendition or adaptation of the Bible on par with His revealed word. SON OF GOD is meant to point people to the Bible, not replace it. Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, who developed The BIBLE television miniseries and SON OF GOD, have been outspoken about their faith and love for Jesus. Marketing material for The BIBLE encouraged people to explore Scripture, and the SON OF GOD website is full of resources to help walk people through the movie from a biblical worldview. https://blu176.mail.live/default.aspx?id=64855#!/!n=1973595691&fid=1&mid=f06feb13-a580-11e3-bd14-00215ad6a6c2&fv=1 This epic masterpiece tells the world changing story of Jesus and inspires us to love and live for others just as He did.
