Is complaining anonymously online bad? Firstly, it can be seen - TopicsExpress

Is complaining anonymously online bad? Firstly, it can be seen as cowardly, that people should man up and face others head on. This is great advice, except for two types of people Passive Aggressive people and Introverts. The way that the school system is formed right now promotes Passive Aggressiveness, as administration demands we behave the way they want, but we resent it within ourselves, and act as such. Extroverts are the people that meet others head on, but Introverts prefer to be alone. Therefore, anonymously posting is the only thing they feel they can do. Complaining anonymously allows people to feel that they can be critical with no consequences... This is another argument used, and having received much anonymous hate in my time, its hard to argue that. However, I can say that it is an extreme. Business have complaint or suggestion boxes where employees can vent frustrations about things at work, and they do not have to fear being reprimanded as much. If we are personal with each other, critiquing other people becomes awkward. But if we know someone, and we are behind a veil, we can give honest criticism (whether or not it is good criticism is another topic for another day). People complain how complaining anonymously is what is wrong with this generation, as we are losing the power of what happens when we meet personally with others. But there is another power in remaining anonymous. The seed of an idea. Sometimes, if a direct confrontation seems impossible, then this is the best route to go. Planting the seed of an idea anonymously, to let the idea grow inside people, to raise this idea so it is not one standing for the original goal, but many. I cannot say anonymous posting is bad in and of itself. It has been used poorly, yes. But there is a power untapped within it that most people are too stupid to see. Instead, they allow the poor usage to pull them down, rather than recognizing it and deciding to use anonymity to its full potential. Anyways, these are my thoughts on the issue. One who has gone into the good, and the bad, versions of anonymous complaining. If it is anonymous, you shouldnt look at the person posting, nor try to figure out who the person is. It is the message posted that should be focused on. ~An Anonymous Poster
