Is dementia inevitable? No. Can it be avoided? Maybe. Whatever the case, its difficult to see a parent take that gradual slide into the abyss of confusion and forgetfulness. There are all sorts of purported remedies and therapies. But perhaps whats most important is understanding, acceptance, and a sense of humor. Our greatest strength as humans is the ability to adapt. And that is one of those circumstances.
