Is morality objective? Do moral facts exist? Or is morality - TopicsExpress

Is morality objective? Do moral facts exist? Or is morality subjective? And; Is morality based on opinions? Is it a belief? Is it a personal sentiment? Or is it a preference? Or is it determined by ones taste? I propose that there are instances of objective morality. Hence morality is real( in some instances). Therefore there are instances of moral facts. My argument supporting that position is as follows: 1. Behaviour is something objective. 2. If good/ or bad constitute the moral essence of behaviour, then our moral judgements(about behaviour) correspond to reality. 3. Good or bad constitute the moral essence of behaviour. Hence; 4. Our moral judgements(about behaviour) corresponds to reality. Hence; 5. There are moral facts about behaviour. Therefore; 6. Morality is objective. The fact is "behaviour"/"actions" possess essence. For example; Actions pertaining to motion possess essence. Hence; We are able to make a distinction between the two kinds of actions pertaining to motion. It is this capacity to distinguish between the two kinds actions pertaining to motion that helps us to create the labels "fast" and "slow". We use the labels in order to make the experience of of seeing both actions that pertain to motions "intelligible" to our minds. And consequently we can make a "cognitive distinction" between the two actions pertaining to motion. The labels(fast and slow) do not exist independent of our minds. However the two distinct actions that they correspond to, exist independent of our minds. But the labels characterize what is objectice. That is to say, the labels characterize the objective essence that helps us to make an objective difference that pertains to the actions we call "fast" and "slow". The point is this; Actions possess an objective essence. Hence; if morals are constitute the objective essence of behaviour/actions, then morality is objective, as long as moral judgements characterize the essence by corresponding to it. And as long as our moral terminology characterizes and corresponds to the essence. For every behaviour possesses a "good essence" or "bad essence". And the respective essences are the "antithesis or opposite" of each other. For example; The action/behaviour of saving an life is the antithesis or opposite of destroying a life. Furthermore; The essence pertaining to the respective actions are objective. We call the essence pertaining to the action of saving a life "good" and "positive", but the essence pertaining to the action of destroying a life "bad and negative". The moral labels we use correspond to the essence of the actions. Hence the descriptions pertaining to both actions/behaviour are objective. Therefore; as long as our moral judgements correspond to the distinctive and objective essence that constitutes both actions, it means that it is objective.
