Is the cold weather here to stay now??? No, it is not! The upper trough and cold front that brought us the sharply colder temperatures, coldest since last spring, will lift out of the region by Monday and there are no signs of any such return through mid-October after that. By the end of the week, we will see highs back in the 60s in the mountains and 70s elsewhere...even approaching 80 degrees across the Piedmont. Great weather for viewing the beautiful fall colors...but it may be marred at times by a chance for showers, especially late Mon-Tue and again toward the end of the week.
