Is thinking of happy times with trapping memories...this one time the Waswa family flew out to their trapline, Roy Waswas family...along with the Boyce family...it was like a little settlement with all the tent frames and a few cabins that were there...the memories that stick to my mind the most is the teaching....and learning was fun and also challenging. I always remember my partner my late friend and sis in law Mary...we never had a dull moment when it came down to trapping and hunting, thinking of the time we were laughing so hard that the other trapper could hear us as we were trying to find a way to kill a rabbit, and me of course trying to be the brave one...I hit the rabbit in the head finally after a good struggle, he was kicking me with his feet and damn that was hard....LOL!..finally got him after missing a lot of times, I got weak from just laughing so hard...we had two incidents of what happened in that creek that evening, walking in deep snow so we could check our snares...and of course there comes the skunk stories...oh wait...the bannock one too...LOL!...this is the one time I could remember the family being happy together and spending our time with our children...walking with them when we would check our traps...those smiles were priceless...and then of course sharing was very important ...sharing with others when there was a kill...One day Johnny killed a moose and we all the people that can walk and carry took off into the bush...that was hard work...and of course there was me, they were going to leave the moose head behind and I had a packsack, I told them to stuff it in there and that is what I struggled with all the way back to the shoreline..it was a long ways, climbing trees and all...thinking of all those moments I am so grateful for as |I reflect the beauty of our ancestors who left us a good life, we should follow them and teach them diligently for survival these days....sometimes I think one day we will come face to face with food shortages or something in that line, my thoughts...Ever lots say!...LOL!
