Is this correct? Can you do this? You can recall a scene from a favourite movie in your mind, and can play it from memory with quite a lot of detail. But does it have sound? Try it and see if your memories have sound right now………….. Or is it a silent visual recording of that scene? Our ability to remember (Find) then recall (Play) then recognise a particular sound in that memory, that came from our past experiences, that become stored in our long term memory, those sounds are recorded in a different part of the brain than the visual recordings are. Meaning, they are not just one complete recording, but are two separate recordings, one part of the brain for sound, and one part for the visual stimulation recording. And you have to physically and mentally go into that sound memory bank to then find and replay the memorised at that time, the actual sounds in the movie scenes, to then make that memory complete and with more realism to it. You can remember what a smashing china plate on a hard tiled floor sounds like, can’t you, or, a sound of a door slamming? So you should be able to actually mentally replace a sound, which would normally sound like a gun shot going off, to being a sound of a plate hitting the floor. All by the power of the mind.
