Islam is free from terrorism and its people .... Edited and Taking from islam.ca Since the time of the Sahabah (Companions of Muhammad), the pure and moderate Muslims and their scholars have been faced with the evils and treachery of a group from the Muslims called al-khawaarij, who are a group who have (through the ages) revolted against the Muslim rulers, killed civilians, harmed and murdered not only those whom they consider non-muslim but even Muslims who have fallen into sin. They are an extremist group who have surfaced throughout the ages, and it is only ahlus-sunnah, The Salafis, those who are upon this moderate balanced path who have warned against them in their writings, their books, their lectures and in recent times by recordings, radio announcements and so forth. So this group has been a trial for the moderate Muslims for generations and are from the most evil of the people and the most harmful, not only to the non-Muslims but to the Muslims even more so. It is only in modern times that they have turned to attacking non-Muslims. So with this, we are posting some of the statements of the major scholars, those who are upon this moderate salafi path. Here are some statements from The Permanent Committee of Major Scholars of Saudi Arabia . We hope they serve to clarify to our fellow non-Muslim citizens, colleagues and neighbours our staunch position against these evils and the representation of our scholars against these harms. In reality, it is the salafi scholars who have taken up the task of rectifying the theology of the Muslims from any such feelings, here are some of the statements of the Salafi scholars condemning terror: “Engaging in terrorist activities such as planting bombs, killing and destroying property is a severe criminal act, transgression upon Islaamicaly secured lives and a destruction of wealth. It is to be punished legislatively with a deterring punishment, acting upon the legislated evidences...” “The Committee of Major Scholars affirms that such oppressive activities are sins and terrible crimes. They are a form of treachery, a violation of the sacredness of life, wealth and security. No one engages in such activities except criminals who are full of hatred, treachery, jealousy and oppression, people who hate life and goodness.” “There is no differing amongst the Muslims that such activities are forbidden or about the hideousness of such crimes and the severity of their sin, and the verses of the Quran and the sayings of the Prophet confirming the prohibition of such crimes are plentiful and well known. The Committee [of Major Scholars of Saudi Arabia] has clarified the prohibition of such criminal activities in the purified [Islaamic] legislation; we openly proclaim to the world: Islaam is free from such activities! Likewise every Muslim who believes in Allaah and the Last Day is free from such activities! This is the conduct of one who has a deviated misguided ideology, so he is to be held accountable for his sin and crime. Islaam, and the Muslims who act upon the guidance of Islaam, who adhere to the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah, who hold on to the rope of Allaah, can not be held accountable for these people’s crimes.
