Islamic Contributions to the West........... Islam is neither just any religion nor it is just another religion. It is the religion. Islam is a complete way of life, a detailed code of conduct and a comprehensible yet divine philosophy. Since the day the early rays of this religion began to light our world to the present times, Islam has contributed in every sphere. It has made an impact with solid reasoning and valid logic; one which is hard to deny. The notion that Islam is the religion of a limited few or it only exists in the East has been proved wrong many times before. Islam has made numerous contributions to the West be it in terms of their development, knowledge or civilization. Islam is the name of a wide and tolerant belief system, one which takes into account the worldwide populace and cannot be termed as the legacy of a tribe or nation. Islam is the religion of the rich, the poor, the wealthy, the wise, the lunatics, the disabled, the tolerant and the uneducated. It is a religion for all and focuses on all. Islam dawned upon this universe at a time when Arab civilization was replete with all imaginable worldly evils. Islam wrapped the people of Arab and the neighboring regions under its wings of kindness and inculcated the wisdom of the world amongst their hearts and souls. From there the spread of this religion began. Today there is no religion upon which Islam has not left a mark. It has inspired religious thinkers and philosophers and forced many to re-think their way of life. In west, Islam’s deep impact can be trace in almost all sectors of life. From science to philosophy and from literature to Mathematics, Islam has left a deep mark on the annals of Western history. Islam is reflective in all fields of human endeavor and one can do nothing but be astonished at the contributions which Islam has made towards the West. West, today, stands as the center of civilization and knowledge but it is in fact the contribution of Muslims due to which West has risen as a shining star. We have abandoned the pathways of knowledge and no longer drink from the fountain of philosophy. Westerner’s, now, rule over us and dangle the sword of power over our heads on the basis of the knowledge that they deceitfully stole from our forefathers centuries ago. Let us rise to the level of our ancestors. Let us unite and become the beacons of intellect once again.
