Isnt it amazing how twenty people can praise you, but if one - TopicsExpress

Isnt it amazing how twenty people can praise you, but if one person criticizes you, you tend to get all wobbly and disjointed over it? Whats with that? Why are we wired that way? Why are we desperate for validation, and why are we so sensitive to criticism? Imagine if we could actually use the positive validation as a sort of superpower force field against the criticism so that when the criticism inevitably shows up, were fortified by the certainty that we are valuable and lovable and worthy of love and validation. Or even better, imagine being completely immune to the external feedback- both positive and negative- so that the sense of worthiness comes exclusively from within. With an inner well of worthiness, we could always fill ourselves internally from that place within that knows- just knows- that we are valuable, lovable, and worthy, not because of some external achievement, but because we have within us a Divine spark that makes us inherently worthy. Its not that we shouldnt be capable of learning and growing from criticism. Sometimes were blind to the ways we need to learn and grow, and we require trusted others to help us see our blind spots. But if youre able to receive that kind of constructive criticism while protecting yourself from the kind of hateful, judgmental criticism that doesnt help and only hurts, youll be on the fast track to an inner sense of stillness, peace, and true, lasting joy. How do you handle criticism? Do you internalize it all? Do you reject it all? Or do you have a balanced way to filter out the purely hateful and learn and grow from the helpful criticism?
