Israeli army forces on Thursday violently dispersed a demonstration in Ramallah by Palestinians commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Fatah movement. Israeli forces used teargas and stun grenades to disperse a demonstration organized by Palestinian activists in Ramallahs Al-Nabi Saleh town, triggering clashes in which Palestinian protesters threw stones at Israeli forces. Fatah supporter and pro-resistance activist Attalah al-Tamimi told The Anadolu Agency that the West Bank town had been selected by Israel as a possible future location for illegal Jewish-only settlements. The Palestinian people will continue to rally against [Israels] settlement policy, al-Tamimi said. Palestinians frequently stage demonstrations against ongoing settlement building and Israels separation barrier, the latter of which snakes through the occupied West Bank isolating large swathes of Palestinian territory. The weekly rallies are typically dispersed by force by the Israeli army.
