Issue of Sania Mirza, being declared as brand ambassador of Telengana has created lot of controversy. A BJP leader, K Laxman has protested the declaration of Sania Mirza as brand ambassador of Telengana state since she married to a Pakistani, Soaib Mallik. Also she is not a local Laxman alleges. These are the condemned points raise by Sri Laxman as communal; most of the electronic Media do have the same view. They project the BJP leader’s remarks to be highly antinational. No doubt Sania is an extraordinary woman Tennis Player of India. She has also been given the national award ‘Padmashree’. But for being a brand ambassador should not she be an Indian by 100%. Does not her marriage with a Pakistani rub her off this qualification to a great extent? Will Pakistan and to say, any other country make somebody a brand ambassador who is married to a foreigner? Getting a national award and getting appointment as a brand ambassador are two different things. In the past so many outsiders have been bestowed the highest national award like ‘Bharat Ratna’. Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan, Nelson Mandela etc. have been decorated with high national awards. But brand ambassador should not have any iota of non-Indian mess. Marriage is an incident which bestows the right on somebody to get citizenship to another country. Is Sania Mirza chooses so in future? She has become a Pakistani. As per Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, is any citizen of Jammu& Kashmir marriage an outsider he/she looses the citizenship? Hence, anybody has got a right to challenge her being made the brand ambassador of Telengana. There is nothing communal in such allegation. Even the Telengana State President of BJP, V. Laxman and others State Congress leaders made the same allegation, the Chief Minister of Telengana K.Ch. Rao should withdraw his decision about Sania Mirza. If he makes Azaharuddin, a test cricketer, ex-M.P. and a Hyderabady, nobody will raise any complain.
