Jessica Harkins.OK, Ok it is time to address this issue Saints. This is for all of you that have the addiction of smoking cigarettes, joints, cigars, pipes or vapor thingys AND for all of you who cannot resist the temptation to constantly preach to those who smoke. Yes, 100% of people who are addicted to smoking know their long-term well being is a sham. 98% of smokers know that they have an increased risk for early heart attacks, strokes, lung cancer, other cancers, bone fractures, and life & limb threatening blood vessel problems. Having this knowledge does not make breaking the addiction any easier, it compounds the problem, compounds the guilt for not being able to put them down, and keeps the addict in a state of depression. Now for all you folks out there who have never been enslaved to nicotine it is high time for you to open up your ears to what I have to say. Get off your soapbox!! Instead of telling people how bad it is for them to smoke, lecturing on the effects and health issues involved or whether they stink or not, tell them I am praying for you brother or sister. I am concerned about you and I want you around with me for a long time or I feel burdened to pray for you and your addiction to smoking. Your temple is not clean if you have any sin in your life whether you are a smoker or not, so stop with the high-mindedness and start loving people with your prayers. I have heard more excuses about grace being sufficient covering sins, or innumerable accounts of how many times believers have attempted to quit and failed. I could line up bic lighters end-to-end around the world; the facts still remain the habit continues and those who dont have this problem still badger those who do. The Lord is long-suffering, so be Christ-like in your approach towards a smoker and do likewise. Stop preaching and start praying or fasting and praying. When a smoker is ready to lay them down he/she will do just that and if they are sincere in wanting to quit the Lord can take that urge or desire from their life but only if he/she wants to do it for themselves. They cannot quit for you who are constantly in their ear about it, nor can they do it for having the knowledge of its harmful effects; it is strictly a personal issue between them and the Lord and those who cannot do it for them need to butt out and take up a supportive role. It is not a lack of knowing what scriptures pertain to addictions either so dont comment on this post with any of them. Smokers have heard them all. If you want to be of service in this, comment that you are praying for them or comment that you were a smoker and have quit. Thank you, this message is brought to you from a former pipe smoker. This post is for Christ-like SUPPORT so if you comment anything else, you are not helping.
