It cannot be said to often: We have – and should cherish – freedom of speech and expression. But this freedom must work within a frame of what the Buddhists call “right speech” (Abstaining from lying, from divisive speech, from abusive speech and from idle chatter). There must be a healthy balance between the two. Remembering this and that we have TWO ears but only ONLY mouth (so we should listen twice every time we speak once) would mean a lot less hate speech and empty noise.
