It could have been me. Every day as I make my way to and from work - TopicsExpress

It could have been me. Every day as I make my way to and from work I see many a lot of things on my bus ride. I see that man asleep on the side walk with all his possessions in a bag. I see that woman pushing her cart or basket looking weary and worn. I see the young family with small children with look of uncertainty. I see so much. In some ways Ive been these faces in a crowd. Alone. Uncertain. Will I be able to provide for my family. But as I look into these faces my heart hurts. So many times on the bus Ive had to put my head down as Ive prayed for them because the tears roll. And at the end of these prayers I say thank you Lord because it could have been me. Im so grateful for Jesus and his mercy. Where we would be if it were not for the Lord being on our side. Why is there homelessness and hunger? Why arent there more resources in place for the mentally ill? Why do we shun those who are less fortunate? Who did Jesus minister to, who did he touch, who did he heal? In my readings it seems that those less fortunate he always made himself available too. My cousin said in a post the other day that she wanted the Lord to help her help someone else and her words have remained upon my heart. It could have been me. It could be me. We have to come together as a community and look after and care for each other. Change starts within. I dont have much but Im willing to give what I have. Isnt that what Jesus did...he has shown us how to love and care for brothers and sisters. Gods grace and mercy are always forefront in my thoughts. Lord help me to help others.
