It doesn’t feel like the 4th of July when time honored 4th of July celebrations, like the one on the Boston Commons will not allow any bags, cooking, drinks, sports, coolers and will subject revelers to invasive TSA-type searchers and X-ray machines with the National Guard looking on. Similar restrictions are being put in place at the National Mall in Washington DC, Atlanta and Denver. It is ironic that celebrations to honor the holiday that once brought unprecedented freedom to our shores have now been reduced to police state training exercises. I now view the 4th of July as a national day of morning in remembrance for what we have lost and will continue to lose.
