It feels like yesterday that we couldnt believe it was august - TopicsExpress

It feels like yesterday that we couldnt believe it was august first...and now were over half way to September! The days go by so quickly out here!! Life goes on as usual - lots of school, art, dance, piano with the kids, visiting with various Chadian friends, etc. For the first time ever the main road that goes out of the town were in has flooded in a few places. Theres a river that comes down from Sudan and theyre had such heavy rains there that the its overflowed, and is expected to continue flooding for a while. So for now the only way in or out of town is by plane or canoe, and a lot of people are homeless right now. Its also effecting a lot of things like jobs, necessary traveling between villages, food prices due to lack of supply, etc. Last week we had a stressful night when the government took our truck. Theres a goldrush up north so the presidents ordered that all pickups and land cruisers be seized. By Gods grace we were able to get it back later that night. Its been so different to be in a place where the government is setting the bar for just how blatantly corrupt the country is. On a lighter note, weve been able to enjoy some of the simple pleasures here. Like having a pomegranate and guava tree outside our house. Mmm :). Weve had a lot of good rains which has been lovely. Its always a blessing when were able to fall asleep on a cool night under hard rain on a tin roof. We just today finished painting our bedroom in the guest house! Were over half way done! Woohoo! Please keep in prayer all the people effected by the flooding, and also that our time here will continue to be beneficial towards helping Scott and Suz and sharing Gods love. Love and miss you all!
