It had always surprised me that our school teachers had never presented this to us pupils as problematic. Somehow, they seemed to think that displacing almost an entire people to create a state was nothing but business as usual. As I read on, I found out that a massive 800,000 Palestinians had been expelled in 1948 in order to create the state, and that Western countries had immediately approved of this ethnic cleansing by recognizing the settler state.
