It has become very apparent that we are not living any longer in a Christian country. Governments, and society do not hold a Christian world view any longer. The reality is that we are living in a modern Roman society. Life is no longer sacred as every year in Canada alone some 65,000 children will be killed in the name of convenience. Marriage has been re-defined to include male and female partners and any one who disagrees with their new definition of marriage is labeled as bigots and hateful. Political leaders in our largest provinces are now pushing for assisted suicide sanctioned by the state. The Judeo-Christian value system once prized and promoted is now considered by most as a thing of the past. So instead of lamenting our loss or yelling from the side lines that we need to return to these values. We who call Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour need to quit living in the past and embrace the reality in which we live. Unfortunately we allowed it to happen. The early church knew they lived in a pagan society as we do. They knew that Christ was and is still the answer. They knew that they needed to tell everyone that there is a hope. They knew that they needed the power of the Holy Spirit to do it and so do we. We need to return to basics of the book of Acts. We need to tarry until we have been endured with power from on high. Then once we have again receive that power to understand that the message we bring is good news. We must also be ready to give our lives for this message. Anything less mocks and despises the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made on the cross. We live in a society that is generally hostile towards the message that we bring, yet we have the power to reform and change our society. It is the message of Jesus Christ that makes a sinner into a saint. We have to be like the apostle Peter when he said to the lame man, Silver and gold have I none but such as I have give I thee, In the name of Jesus Christ, rise up and walk. The world in which we live does not need Christian self help, philosophy or prosperity preaching. It needs people who know their God and who will do exploits for Him. This expose is a call to return to that which made the church revolutionary in their day. The book of Acts was not a one time phenomenon or a once in history event. God designed this to be the reality in the church. Something that happens everyday in every community in the world. The early Christians turned their world upside down for Christ and we can as well. Resurrection power has not left the church. The same Spirit who turn the early disciples from fearful to fearless is still here today. We live in a modern day Rome and that is reality. That means we will be despised, mocked, mis-understood and hated. You and I have the message that can change our society and so with the Lords help and Spirit let us go and change our world one person at a time. It is time too let go of the nostalgia of the past, stop lamenting about the moral slide of society or crying for our Christian civil rights which are basically gone. We live in a society as bad as any pagan country through the world. The church in those countries is thriving and growing because the Christians know what they are facing and now we do. Let us get busy and win our worlds through Jesus Christ. Remember every soul who is saved is torn from hell and transported to heaven.
