It has been a crazy week here at Texas Childrens Hospital in room 1510. Christmas was quiet and reflective. My mom, step dad, sisters and Grandpa came up to see Jasper and I Christmas afternoon and Jasper received some awesome snuggles from everyone. Daddy and Jace had a blast at home, even though they were very sick with the flu, opening all the presents Santa left under the stockings on Christmas Eve! Update: Jaspers heart continues to heal and perform with perfection! Unfortunately, we are still battling with his lungs. He had a CAT scan yesterday afternoon and we are anxiously awaiting the results this morning. Jasper is still having trouble with his oxygen saturation levels and he is still requiring 4 to 5 liters of high flow to assist him in his breathing. The hard part is getting 20 different medical professionals on the same page and keeping communication straight. My job as Dr. Mom is keeping me on my toes and cracking the whip (gently, of course) when need be. We are still not sure of a discharge date. Their are so many milestones that have to be met for this to happen, it will happen! I am now giving Jasper all his meds, starting his feeds via the Kangaroo pump and checking placement for his NG tube. I will be inserting his NG tube all by myself tomorrow! This is my first big test in order for us to move one step closer to home. Happy New Year to all of you and may 2015 be the year of health, home and happiness wrapped in the arms of our Lord! I could not be more thankful for the support and love you all have shown to our family this 2014. Much love to you all!!!
