It has been brought to my attention by the family of Patsy Norman, - TopicsExpress

It has been brought to my attention by the family of Patsy Norman, the woman killed in the SR20 MVC, that the photo we shared from the Washington State Patrol District 7 PIO Twitter account of the Fatality accident on SR20 between Burlington and Sedro Woolley contained images of their loved one still in the vehicle. This is horrifying to us. I can not imagine how the Norman Family feels about this photo being released by the WSP and shared by every news agency in the Seattle area. The Norman family has contacted the Washington State Patrol who agreed the photo was released prematurely and in error and they have removed the photo. The fact that we re shared the photo, believing it was okay to post because it had been released by the W.S.P PIO makes me sick to my stomach. We truly believed it was okay to share and had been done so in a tasteful manner because it was released by the WSP. Regardless, we were wrong. I want to formally apologize to the entire Norman Family, their extended family, their loved ones, their friends, acquaintances, Patsys niece, and all Skagit Breaking followers who were critical of us sharing the photo. Nothing we can say or do will ever remove the hurt caused by sharing this photo. We are in the process of contacting all the news stations that have shared the photo and are asking them to remove the photo from their news stories. At no time, would we ever knowingly share a photo of this nature and at no time would be ever intentionally cause additional hurt to a family who had just lost a loved one. I encourage anyone who sees the accident photo on a news site or web page, please contact the page and ask that the photo be immediately removed. We, as a community page/news source are going to reevaluate things we are doing and again, I want to apologize to the Norman Family for re-sharing the accident photo and for defending our decision to re share it. We were wrong in doing so. May Patsy Rest in Peace and may her family be able to heal from the pain caused by the photo being released and shared by media outlets. I/We are truly sorry for being a part of the sharing of the photo. Skagit Breaking Moderators and Owners. The photo of Patsy included in this post, was submitted by Patsys Sister.
