It has been brought to my attention that a petition is doing the rounds claiming to be gathering signatures to Save TUNBRIDGE WELLS FORUM. With respect to the person or persons who started this petition, who Im sure had the best intentions, I am afraid it is very badly worded, does not actually understand the issue, and really isnt very helpful. MOst concerning of all, there may come a time at which The Forum does actually need peoples help, and I am concerned that if this does happen people may feel they have signed already or given their support already. Put very simply, the Forum is not under any immediate threat, has enjoyed a great deal of support from Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, and the developer has been handed a whole series of conditions which would, if enacted, perhaps provdie some protection. At no time has the developer sought to close the Forum, nor have the concerns of the Forum with regards to noise/nuisance been ignored. There remain a number of concerns about the development, but this petition does not address those. I dont have any direct contact with the creators of the page Save the Forum - music venue or the petition, but if I did I would urge them to take it down as it is misleading. If they would like to get in touch directly with me or the Forum, we would be happy to give them details.
