It has been nearly a week since my accident and the scariest part - TopicsExpress

It has been nearly a week since my accident and the scariest part is behind me. My wound was 10+ inches long and 3+ inches deep, slicing through half of my leg and exposing my femoral artery. They say if it had been any deeper I wouldnt have made it out of the water and I am lucky I didnt bleed out on the beach and that they were able to save my leg. My wound is now stitched tightly and healing more and more each day. I have had a lot of time to reflect on the events of last Tuesday and am overcome with gratitude for the people who played a role in saving my life. I know for a fact that without Phil Allen, I would not be here today today. He was able to stay calm under the most dire circumstances and direct the people around us to do the tasks necessary to stop my bleeding. He made a tourniquet out of a towel and then out of a belt. He held my hand and looked into my eyes and assured me that I would be okay. He is my rock, my protector, my hero and he stayed by my side every painful moment. I also have to thank my family members, all of whom played a HUGE role in my survival and continued recovery. Clay Synan who put his hand into my wound to stop the bleeding and held it there for nearly twenty minutes. JB Anderson, who ran to the house to grab his belt on God-given impulse, not even sure why he was doing it. Nikki Lloyd, who held my head, kept me awake, and prayed words of healing and peace over me when I begged people to pray. Jeb Synan who fought furiously with the 911 operators and paramedics trying to rely the dire nature of the situation and to get them to hurry. Marie Anderson who stood by my shoulder praying and asking God to keep me alive and keep my leg, who also, with the help of Grace Synan has taken care of me during my recovery, helping with showers, wound care and child care. Finally to all the other members of my family who watched the children and kept them busy, who prayed tirelessly for me, and visited me in the hospital. I am truly grateful. Even with all of that help, my most important help always comes from The Lord. I felt his presence during the entire ordeal and know that he is always watching out for me. His plan for my life will not be shaken.
