It has been reported that Comcast has acquired Time-Warner Cable. The merger of the two largest cable television providers in the U.S. will likely have some serious ramifications in the pay television industry for consumers, but also may have an affect on the future of #WWE, as it related to the future potential for removing all of their television offerings from cable to put them on the #WWENetwork, as NBC Universal owns both USA Network and Comcast, which puts them in a real strong leveraging position as it relates to broadcast rights to WWE programming. WWE would certainly crave not only the money that the new company could offer for their shows, which may change their mind about removing their shows to put on the Network. Angering the largest cable television provider by threatening to remove their highest rated programme would likely not be a good move for WWE, but it may end up benefitting WWE more to keep their shows on regular pay cable, since it was reported elsewhere that WWE did get an increase in rights fees to keep their shows on cable, and with the new merger, Comcast would certainly be able to outbid any other provider for WWE programmes (although they likely could have done that even before the merger).
