It has been several days since Pakistan’s Parliament passed a resolution condemning the punishment of the “Butcher of Mirpur” Qader Molla. My mother and all Bengalis have been outraged by this resolution and condemned it. However, our Leader of the Opposition Khaleda Zia has been absolutely silent. She has partnered with Jamaat for a long time, but with her continued silence she has taken sides. She has taken side with Jmaat and Pakistan against Bangladesh. This is shameful. As a Bengali I am ashamed that a former Prime Minister would not speak out for Bangladesh against Pakistan. The European Union diplomats have also taken sides here. They boycotted our Victory Day. This was an insult to our nation. Victory Day is not about Awami League and BNP, it is about Bangladesh and our hard fought Liberation. As a Bengali, I am outraged at the European Union diplomats. The EU took sides with Jamaat by boycotting Victory Day. With their statement today they are taking sides with BNP-Jamaat again. We have tried our best to bring the opposition to the elections, but BNP will not participate without Jamaat. Now the EU have taken Jamaat’s side as well by claiming these elections will not be credible. Notice that they have not said elections will not be free and fair. They cannot say that because all 6000 elections held under Sheikh Hasina’s Government have been free and fair. They cannot say that as there are not 14 million false names on the voters list, as there were under Khaleda Zia’s Government. Only the people of Bangladesh get to decide if the elections are credible or not, not foreigners. Shame on the EU for taking sides with war criminals and boycotting our Victory Day. বেশ কয়েক দিন হয়ে গিয়েছে পাকিস্তানের সংসদ মিরপুরের কসাই কাদের মোল্লার ফাঁসির শাস্তির নিন্দা প্রস্তাব পাশ করেছে। আমার মা এবং সব বাঙালি এই ধরনের রেজুলেশনে ক্ষুব্ধ এবং এর নিন্দা জানিয়েছেন। তথাপি আমাদের বিরোধীদলের নেত্রী খালেদা জিয়া এ বিষয়ে পুরোপুরি নিরব রয়েছেন। তিনি জামায়াতের সাথে সহযোগী হয়েছেন দীর্ঘ সময় ধরে এবং তার নিরবতাই বলে দেয় তিনি তাদের পক্ষ নিয়েছেন। তিনি বাংলাদেশের বিপক্ষে গিয়ে জামায়াত এবং পাকিস্তানের দোসর হয়েছেন। এটা লজ্জাজনক। বাঙালি হিসেবে বাংলাদেশের একজন প্রাক্তন প্রধানমন্ত্রীর বাংলাদেশের পক্ষে এবং পাকিস্তানের বিপক্ষে কিছুই না বলায় আমি লজ্জিত। ইউরোপীয় ইউনিয়নের কূটনীতিকরাও এক্ষেত্রে পক্ষ অবলম্বন করেছেন। তারা আমাদের বিজয় দিবসের অনুষ্ঠান বর্জন করেছেন। এটা জাতি হিসেবে আমাদের জন্য অপমানজনক। বিজয় দিবস আওয়ামী লীগ বিএনপির বিষয় নয়, এটা আমাদের বাংলাদেশ এবং কষ্টার্জিত স্বাধীনতার বিষয়। একজন বাঙালি হিসেবে আমি ইউরোপীয় ইউনিয়নের কূটনীতিকদের উপর ক্ষুব্ধ। বিজয় দিবসের অনুষ্ঠান বর্জনের মাধ্যমে ইইউ জামায়াতিদের পক্ষ নিয়েছে। তাদের আজকের বিবৃতিতে বুঝা যায় তারা আবার বিএনপি জামায়াতের পক্ষ নিচ্ছে। আমরা বিরোধীদলকে নির্বাচনে আনতে আপ্রাণ চেষ্টা করে যাচ্ছি। কিন্তু, বিএনপি জামায়াতকে ছাড়া নির্বাচনে অংশ নিবে না। জামায়াতের পক্ষ নিয়ে ইইউ এখন দাবী করছে এই নির্বাচন গ্রহনযোগ্য হবে না। লক্ষ্য করুন যে, তারা বলছে না যে ইলেকশন অবাধ ও সুষ্ঠু হবে না। তারা তা বলতে পারছে যে কারণ, শেখ হাসিনা সরকারের অধীনে ৬০০০ নির্বাচন অবাধ ও সুষ্ঠুভাবে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। তারা এজন্য বলতে পারছে না যে, ভোটার তালিকায় এখন আর খালেদা জিয়ার সরকারের আমলের মত ১ কোটি ৪০ লাখ ভুয়া ভোটার নাই। শুধুই বাংলাদেশের মানুষ সিদ্ধান্ত নিতে পারে যে নির্বাচন গ্রহনযোগ্য হচ্ছে কি হচ্ছে না, বিদেশিরা নয়। আমাদের বিজয় দিবস বয়কট করে যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের পক্ষ নেয়ায় ইইউকে ধিক্কার জানাই।
