It has been two weeks since we heard the news that our Youth Pastor and his family were involved in a fatal car accident that took all of them to heaven at the same time. I know it is sad for those of use left behind but as I have reflected on the events, the things that happened before the accident and the things that have happened since then, it is evident that we serve a God who is involved in our world and in our lives. This tragedy was no surprise to Him. He was preparing people before and has ministered to people in many ways afterward. His gospel has been shared with thousands of people. It is important for us to remember that in all things He will be glorified. Michael, Monica, Joshua, and Caleb brought glory to Him in the way they lived and even though they are in heaven and not with now, they are still bringing Him glory. All of us who remain behind have choices to make as we reflect on this event. First, do we know Jesus Christ as our Savior? If not, then this is as close to Heaven as you will experience. If you do know Him, are you sold out to Him and is He the most thing in your life? Do you share Him with others? Do you talk to him continuously? Do you read and study His Word? If not, how do you know what He expects of you? I encourage you to stop and take an inventory of your life and reflect on what people will say about you when you die? More importantly though is, what will Jesus say about you when you stand before Him? Plan to worship tomorrow in the church where God leads you.
