It has come to my attention that I have been remiss in updating - TopicsExpress

It has come to my attention that I have been remiss in updating you on Jons progress. He is healing. The wound from the surgery has now closed (after six weeks) and it is still healing. We are still monitoring for infection and still cleaning up (dead skin as he heals). He has been hobbling around and weight bearing at the doctors encouragement and was measured for a prosthetic on 3 June. We are waiting for the appointment to fit and hopefully retrieve it so he can walk and drive (prosthetics take 6-8 weeks to manufacture as they are hand made). Because his foot is healing and his body is adjusting to a small change in circulation, his foot and ankle swell and become uncomfortable so he is forced to put his feet up and allow the swelling to subside from time-to-time. If you know Jon, you will know that he is an impatient patient and is ready to get back to normal. He will have regular appointments at the Diabetic Foot Clinic until he is completely healed and, I suspect, that will mean another 3 months or so and then he will be put on maintenance appointments and checked less frequently. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers as we adapt to Jons injury, surgery and subsequent healing. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!
