It has just occurred to me that while I was on vacation in Germany last week, I missed out on commemorating my fifteenth anniversary here at Queens Park. Obviously I owe my longevity to the two very important people at the top from 1999 to the present (thank you Dalton McGuinty / thank you Kathleen Wynne) but that is not to discount the importance of the dozens and dozens of staffers Ive worked with through the years both in our four years of opposition and our eleven years in government. Im not going to mention names here as I risk offending anybody I leave out out but suffice to say that the 15 years working with such great people has never been anything less than an honour and a pleasure. OK, I will mention four very important people ... the two people who got me in the door and the two people who hired me. It was James Bullbrook of LCSB who initially opened the door for me and my good friend, former (Rogers) and present colleague Colin Wickham (LCSB) who connected me with James in July of 1999 when a videographer was required for the swearing in of Sandra Pupatello! Jim Maclean was our Director of Communications and he, together with communications svengali Matt Maychak, hired me for the role of LCSB Electronic Media Coordinator in September of 1999 even though my only political background came from producing Straight Talk with Mel Lastman, North York City Views and some MP/MPP Reports at Rogers Community 10 in the 80s and 90s. Ill never be able to adequately thank these four gentlemen or Dalton and Kathleen, both such fine and honourable people! Ive been a very lucky man! db
