It is OVER!!! 32 YEARS AND 3 MONTHS since I opened Fat Moose Comics and Games, I am no longer a part of its ongoing history. Today we held the closing, money exchanged hands, and Scott Hughes became the new owner. I opened the store on April 1st, 1982 and watched my small shop grow over the years. I hope the legacy I created and maintained will be strengthened and moved forward by Scott, Shawn, Matt and the rest of the new Fat Moose team. I wish all of them continuing success and many years of comic book retailing joy. I want to sincerely thank everyone who attended my going away party. The vibe was unbelievable, the memories rushed out and plentiful, and the love and affection shown to me were more than I ever expected or could have hoped for. Thanks to Dan of Deweys Comic City for making a special and poignant appearance. His words of kindness will never be forgotten. Thanks to Margarit for being there from the very beginning and not only showing me the Morris County Mall when I was looking for a place to open my store, but also for coming up with the name. Thanks to my fiancee Michelle for joining me on my lifes journey almost 3 years ago. Through Skype, she became a vibrant and wonderfully conspicuous part of the Fat Moose family. She was there for me at the very end and eased my pain and sadness at the loss of my lifes work (so far). And of course, she and I are truly becoming family when I move to Seattle in a few months to share my life with her and her kids - along with Rachel, my highly intelligent and beautiful daughter. And thanks to Rachel - I did it all for you - you might never fully realize how much I love and respect you - when it was hard and I wanted to quit; when I got bored and lost focus; when I did almost everything wrong - providing you with your college experience and hoping to help pave the way for your future is why I kept going. I cannot wait to see what our new lives in Seattle become, but I am happy and excited to know you will be there with me. Once again, a huge and sincere thank you to everyone who was part of my Fat Moose family over the last 32 years.....Ilan Strasser
