It is VITAL to the public interest that we understand this equation. Prisons for profit create a demand for prisoners. So sentences are lengthened, younger people receive for-life terms for relatively minor crimes. This is a total distortion of the justice system. It was bad enough when the rich got off, and we got jail. Now the rich get richer, the prisons are overcrowded and funds go to increase the incareration rate. VERY wrong. VERY Republican. Very evil.
