It is a great news- our Dubai based Sindhi Writer our friend Gope Daryani has been awarded the most prestigious award in Sindhi Literature by SAHITYA AKADEMI. Delhi - comprising Rs.1 Lac cash award and a trophy. Every year, Sahitya Akademi is giving award to the best literary book of 22 regional languages of India. Cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh and trophy is given to the writer of book. (Before President of India himself was giving this award, now a days it is given by the president of Sahitya Akademi). This year, Shri Gope Kamals Ghazal book Sijja Agyaan Buku (Sooraj ke Aage Oak) has been selected for the award in Sindhi language. Last year, Shri Javed Akhtar received the award for his Urdu book. Few years back, Gulzar also received the same award. Gope Kamal is famous poet, story writer and novelist of Sindhi language. He was born on 9th Nov. 1948 in Baraut (small village near Meerut in U.P.) He started writing from his school days. His first poem was published in Sindhi magazine in the year 1964, when he was in 10th std. His first novel was published in 1973. So far he has written 9 books including 1 novel, 1 short story collections, 1 humorous criticism, 3 collection of poems and 3 Ghazal collections. Since last 38 years he is working with Dubai Municipality as Civil Engineer. We wish him many more awards to come.
