It is a great shame. A wonderful piece of history will be torn down, but there are so many independently owned and run studios in town now dotted all over the place...like mine for example. You dont need to pay high $$$ to go downtown to make a great sounding record anymore. Technology has allowed the market to be hugely expanded. These big commercial studios have been hurting because of guys like myself, Randy Kohrs, Brent Truitt, Mark Howard, Mark Thornton... and hundreds of others. In the long run, its better that theres work for many as opposed to the big guys getting it all. Still, I will be of course saddened to see this go. So many great records made there that have inspired so many. We wouldnt be doing this at all if it wasnt for the old school studios. I guess that is progress at the expense of tradition.
