It is a happy Thursday! Bitsy is wagging her tail at me. So cool for several reasons: 1) Shes happy enough to wag her tail 2) She is able to wag her tail with all the damage to her hind end 3) She can wag her tail without falling down Im wagging my tail, too! YAY Bitsy!!! Bitsys story: Bitsy is a tiny 15 yr old shih tzu who was taken to a kill shelter by her owner. The owner did this because Bitsy was bleeding from the mouth and could barely walk. They called HCW and we picked her up. Bitsy is her new name - we will not be using the one she had in her old life any more. New life, new name. Bitsy was in terrible shape, could not hold down food, very weak, and dehydrated. We got her vomiting under control, and located the source of the bleeding - her teeth were terrible and were not only bleeding, but causing her terrible pain. It appears she was hit by a car in the past and was probably not vetted. She was so weak that her compromised back legs just would not hold her up. With good care, medications, good food and lots of love, Bitsy improved. She got a much needed dental, and enjoys walking around outside in the sun. Our vet discovered that she has a broken jaw that was not treated and will never heal. We were able to take out the rotting teeth that were causing her a lot of the pain she was having. Bitsy is eating on her own now. She seems to be getting just a little stronger each day.
