It is a rare artist, nonetheless filmmaker, whom captures the struggle of humanity to cope with both survival and compassion the way that Stanley Kubrick did. Few have furthered their chosen profession as profoundly as that man did. His peccadillos aside, he will go down in history the way Hemingway, Kerouac, Hunter S., and perhaps Cobain will: As artists that literally changed the genre in which they worked while both criticising and idolising the human condition. Jung would be proud of how Kubrick was able to represent archetypes on film as modern mirrors into which we were all meant to gaze.
