am really enjoying the im so bogalusa posts. it amazes me about some of the things that my peers recall that i do not. however, i am so bogalusa that i experienced band under the baton of j. d. do you have diarrhea of the mouth fendlason, played in a clarinet quartet to entertain the rotary club at the pine tree inn, caused bill buckalew to get gray hair by smooching with my boy friend on the band bus during football trips! i also remember chili parties at the ag school as the band boosters prepared for their fair and football stadium booths-- and the glorious smell when they threw onions on the grill to entice customers at football games & the fair. i am so bogalusa that i remember shivering in the ywca pool after taking a cold shower & stepping in the bleach pan---and hitching up the bathing suit straps once they were heavy with water so that the crotch was above your knees & the neckline was covering the hoped for boobs! i remember vegetable peddlers harking their produce on the avenues, snow ball carts fashioned from wood & window screen plying us with the cold delights that signaled summer time--and the red bird ice cream cart ringing the bell that made us all agree with pavlovs experiments! so glad we grew up before everything was sanitized & wrapped in plastic!
