It is a teachers responsibility to be heard by the students in the - TopicsExpress

It is a teachers responsibility to be heard by the students in the room, as well as seen. But if we spend the entire class at the front of the room, it is nearly impossible to know if we are being effective with our instructions, because we cannot see what the students are doing from any other perspective. Its a constant balance and continual fine tuning. If there is no light at the front of the room, then we need to move to the side or the back, and switch the room up! The students need to see the teacher! We can organize the room (its essentially ours while we teach) in such a way to be seen and heard. We must move around and get over to the side of the room when the pose turns the class to the side. We cannot demonstrate at the front when they are all turned to the right. Well have them craning their necks to see us. We are responsible for teaching them, it is not our time to practice. If we are using their practice time for our own, we are doing everyone a disservice. Ourself, and all of them. In a forward bend if we are talking to our own knee, they will not hear us clearly. They will be straining. That is not fair. Nothing should be a strain when it comes to following the instructions. We must be clear. Our voice must be heard. We must be able to be seen when it is needed. And we must be able to see everyone. Like a good waiter observing the whole dining room, we must be able to notice who needs a block, who is huffing and puffing, who is distracted, who is tired, who is straining to hear or understand or see.) Open your eyes, teachers. Teach the students. Support them energetically and watch them. Otherwise, how will you know what they need to hear or learn?
