It is appalling that students were charged for staging a rally inside the University of the Philippines, supposedly a bastion of liberal thinking and academic freedom, and indicted for going against the administration’s command that ultimately deprived the UP Manila community of accessible and affordable food services and livelihood for ordinary maninindas. Instead of addressing the pressing concern of the UPM community for food services, the Agulto administration prioritized the filing of charges against students who are critical of its policies.
