It is apparent that the thought of Desiderious Erasmus (1466-1536), a Dutch Christian humanist during the age of Northern European Renaissance, became a cause of Martin Luther’s Protestant Reformation in terms of his attempt to translate the entire New Testament Bible into Greek. It is clear that North Europe, such as Netherlands, where Erasmus was born was less influenced by the emerging Italian Renaissance humanism which became the mainstream of the Western Renaissance. While Italian Renaissance was deeply related to the restoration ancient Greco-Roman (Greek and Roman) pre-Christian religious culture instead of Roman Catholicism, Northern European Renaissance contained much deeper Christian tradition molded through the tradition of the medical Roman Catholicism. Therefore, this regional cultural element enabled Erasmus to put more focus on the Christian-centered humanism in terms of the restoration of original form of New Testament teaching within the Roman Catholic Church.
