It is astonishing to me that so many people, when finding out we rescue chickens and run a vegan sanctuary, claim to rescue chickens and eat the hens eggs. It is a shame that people believe that by rescuing chickens they have the right--or a free pass--to eat the hens eggs. The hens need those nutrients put back in their bodies, and they love the eggs as a treat. We have manipulated their genes to make them produce insane (and unhealthy!) numbers of eggs, so to then go and steal the eggs and nourishment from them just adds insult to injury. (The same sorts of exploitative practices are true for every other animal-ag sector, too.) To rescue and then continue exploiting is not a service to anyone.
