It is devastating when a child is hurt. There is nothing like it. We are hardwired to protect our young. I think that it helps to take everything one step at a time. It is so overwhelming. When its the brain...it is such a mystery. There are children/people who have had no trauma and one second they are here and the next, they are gone. Then, as in this case, we have a child whos brain who is bruised and swollen...hurt. The brain is like any other organ, if it is bruised, it swells to protect itself. That is the problem. The swelling causes further damage. So, heres a thought. Lets all pray for Haydens brain to stop swelling, to return to normal pressure and to stop any further damage. Once he is stable, then we can worry about how much damage there is. No Dr can tell you what the ultimate outcome will be if he lives. We only use a small portion of our brains and if there is brain left to work with, there is ALWAYS a chance at recovery. So, tonight, lets all pray for Haydens brain to stop swelling, his pressure numbers to go down, for strength for the family and insight for the medical crew. Lets concentrate on getting Hayden through tonight. If we can, then we can worry about the future tomorrow. Hang in there Hayden! Look how many people love you :)
